Communicate Your Organizations Software Needs Effectively
When selecting new business software (ERP, manufacturing, distribution, or accounting systems), defining a company’s operational and general business requirements is difficult to accomplish in a timely and focused manner. Developing a clear and concise list of theses requirements, distributing this list to suppliers, and evaluating the supplier responses is even more difficult. Therefore, finding the right tool to assist in this process is imperative to effectively and efficiently completing this step in the software selection process.
TGI created a Functional Requirements Template to allow the software selection project team to review and define functional requirements, prioritize the software requirements by varying levels, and then calculate the weighted supplier responses in a completely impartial process. The document can be easily sent to numerous suppliers for completion and then compiled internally for analysis once returned to the team.
The Software Selection Functional Requirements Template is part of TGI’s Software Selection Tool Kit which is available on CD for free via an online request form.

The template consists of over 1,200 questions in multiple functional areas spanning accounting, order management, forecasting and advanced planning, purchasing, manufacturing, inventory control, warehouse management, transportation, e-commerce, and reporting.
Once the project team receives supplier responses, the template creates a table based comparison of each supplier’s departmental and global response. Cumulated vendor responses are then placed in graphical charts for evaluation and easy insertion in executive progress reports.
